attribute-system

In Noctaria, some equipment can carry special attributes that make them more powerful and unique. These attributes don’t appear often and require effort to unlock.

Unidentified Items

When a monster drops an item, there is a 0.2–0.4% chance (depending on its classification level) it will carry unidentified items. Until identified, they cannot be equipped or show any stats. Once identified, the item reveals its original stats along with one or more random attributes.

Attributes & Item Classes

Each item belongs to a classification, which determines how many attributes it can hold.

  • A Bright Sword (classification 3) can roll up to three attributes
  • A Longsword (classification 1) can only ever roll one attribute

Attributes are tied to the type of item:

  • Fire weapons like Fire Sword or Fire Axe can gain a Burning attribute
  • Magical gear like wands, or robes are more likely to gain attributes such as mana leech, mana regen, or bonus magic level

Classification only affects how many attributes an item can have, not the strength of those attributes.

Enchanting with Mystic Runes

  • Items can also be enchanted using Mystic Runes. To enchant, you need a Mystic Rune and either an Arcstone or Lesser Arcstone).
  • Arcstones and Mystic Runes can be obtained from quests, factions, mystic bags, and bosses.
  • Arcstones are also sold in Edron, by Alexander.
  • Enchanting has a chance to succeed, and rare attributes are less likely to appear.

  • Class = the maximum number of attributes an item can hold.
  • The more attributes an item already has, the harder it becomes to add another.
  • Minimum chance is 2%, maximum is 50%.

Breaking Enchantments

If you want to clear attributes from an item, you’ll need a Purge Rune. Using a Purge Rune removes all attributes from the item.

Instead of being wasted, the broken attributes are converted into Essence of Raw Energies. These energies can be used to craft new Mystic Runes, letting you recycle power into new chances at better rolls.

Protecting Your Items

Dying while wearing attributed equipment carries a risk. Each attributed item you have equipped is checked individually, and there’s a 20% chance per item to lose an attribute. To protect your gear, you can buy the Grace of Preservation blessing from Oldrak in Plains of Havoc. This blessing prevents any loss of attributes on death.

  • Only one attribute can be lost per item per death.
  • Blessing Cost: 200 gold × your character level.
